Information & FAQ

From Customers

Q: I have heard that you offer gift certificates . My friend loves art and I would like to give her an artwork, but I do not know what she likes. Art choices are very personal.

A: You are right, art is very personal. With the “Gift of Art” gift certificate the receiver can choose their own artwork, exactly to their liking.

The Art of Oregon Gift Certificate is available in any denomination, large or small. The receiver of the Gift Certificate can use it towards any piece of art.

To order your Gift Certificate contact us by phone 503-650-5810. Payments can be made online or per check. Gift Cards will be mailed out in 1-2 business days after payment is received.

Q: Some of the artwork is very big and heavy and shipping cost will make this artwork very expensive. Is there another option?

A: Yes, for local customers (most) artists also offer the option of ‘pick up' of the artwork . We would ask the artist to contact you and arrange for pick up of the art, at the artist choice of location.

If you are interested in art pick up, please contact us before you make your purchase.

Q: How about the installation of artwork?

A: Yes, we can arrange that for you. We work together with a very reputable company that can deliver and install any artwork. They have also done art installs for the Portland Art Museum.

Q: Will paintings come framed?

A: All paintings come unframed, unless stated otherwise.

Example: framed: yes (gold ornate)

Size 11” x 14”

We work with highly qualified framers and can take care of the framing for you, if you wish.

Q: Is it possible to see the artwork before I buy it?

A: For businesses and customers with multiples sales, we offer to come by (greater Portland area) and show the artwork, if preferred.

However, even for customers buying one artwork, they can still return it within several days of purchase (see customer service) if the artwork does not fit the room.

From Artists

Q: How do I get my artwork in your online gallery?

A: Go to the 'For Artists' or 'Artist Sign' up on the Home page. There you will find:

•  how we work with the artists

•  our artist agreement

•  which Portfolio Plan works for you

If you are still interested you may send some images of your art in an email attachment. When your art is accepted and a Portfolio Plan chosen, you will receive your password to be able to upload your images. Then you are online!

Q: What are your fees ?

A: We work with a Portfolio fee and a low commission upon sales only. When your art is accepted we will send you a link to the different Portfolio Plans and the agreement.

Q: Why do I pay a fee to sell my art through your site?

A: AoO is NOT charging artists a "fee to sell their work", but, rather, offering website portfolio packages, that will increase  their exposure and sales, and help the artist sell using the portfolio as an on-line tool.

The high rankings on google, and traffic to the site are also a valuable commodity that most individual artists DO NOT have via their own websites. The marketing, advertising, and exposure resulting from such, is a
part of an artists success, and most artists ignore or skimp on this in their own business plans. It is a valuable and measurable product that is offered by AoO's package plans....a very different approach than charging
artists fees just to be seen online.

Q: Who handles shipping and handling ?

A: The artist is responsible for safely shipping the artwork to the customer, however the customer pays for the cost.

Q: How much do you charge for shipping and handling?

A: Because the artist brings the artwork to their local Postal Annex/UPS store (who all charge different rates), we advice the following: Take your artwork to your local store and ask what shipping and packaging would cost to the east coast (say New York), in that case your cost will be covered.   Enter this amount in your art/product page, when you upload art information.

Q: Tell me more about pick up of the artwork?

A: For local customers it is really nice that we can offer local pick up of the artwork. This could save the customer a lot of money. When the customer shows interest in this feature, we will contact the artist to set up a meeting with the customer, at the artist place of choice.
